How fast can I learn the guitar?
“When I take up the guitar today then how much time it takes until I get the desired results?” Those are the most frequently asked questions about guitar studies. What can I say?
A traditional intruduction to a guitar method or book tells you that the method you just bought is better, more up-to-date, more detailed, simpler and more condensed (while also more thorough!) than “ordinary” guitar books. I would hate to break with this tradition – especially as the teaching of musical instruments is so thoroughly rooted in tradition. But I do need to tell you that no guitar book either electronic or “real” is ever going to play the instrument for you!
In my PhD study about the electronic study materials in music education I constantly run into a dilemma – on one hand are the methods that are put together according to the recent studies in the field of educational technology. They make a careful use of different ways of giving the student the information, trying not to push too much simultaneous info through one channel (cognitive learning theory). The others just don’t care – all kind of visual effects plus videos plus graphics are put together and actually present the same information. But when I ask people that which one would you buy then the answer is always the same: the more I get for my money the better! The more angles the video has the faster the result! Not true but the client is the king!
This mini-course here is deliberately minimalist and tries to help you to concentrate one one thing at the time. It would not sell very well, though. But it doesn’t have to – IT’S ALL FREE!
